Patty65
So, so true. I want no label -- I hate the widow check box too. But yes, married, that is what I would have requested too. We ARE still married. IMHO.

KATPILOT
Perhaps after enough time has passed you may feel as I do. I'm a married widower. This is what I look like and feel like. So many months and years and checking those boxes kind of made me numb to it. Legally I can't say married but on a doctors form what difference would it make? When I went to the doctors a couple of weeks ago for bronchitis the form questioned married or single and then asked if I was sexually active. Now that actually made me laugh and I don't really know why. Gin I received your address and check today and I thank you. I will try and send your pieces tomorrow. I like to use UPS so I can send you the arrival date in a day or two.
kayc
Joyce, I'm sorry you were in the hurricane and lost your power. We have a storm coming our way Thurs-Sat and they're predicting downed trees and loss of power. Not looking forward to it. Since I have to cook for my dog, I packaged up what I have on hand in portions and froze it, and will make a new batch tomorrow to have on hand in case I can't cook in the upcoming days.
iPraiseHim
I am a widower. I was married for 25 years. Death doesn't change my status to my beloved bride. I could care less what an institution calls me. I still don't feel single. - Shalom
kayc
Steve, I remember a month or two after George died, I got a Viagra email at work, I'm sitting in my cubicle muttering about why do I have to get Viagra commercials, not like I get anything anyway. The quality control chairman in the cubicle across from me cracked up hearing me!

That is perfect, Steve! Absolutely no one would get it outside of here, but that is the perfect phrasing! I'm going to steal that and use it when people ask. They will assume I am newly married tho after the death. Hmmmmm.....oh well, confusing people is always a little decadent.
brat#2
Kay, good luck through your storm that is coming. I hope you don't have any problems, but like you are doing, it's always better to be prepared than not. I have what I call "Hurricane Boxes" which stay packed at all times with all the important stuff and then I just add to them when to really have to evacuate. kayc
We've never had a hurricane here, and I've only heard of a very few small tornadoes in Oregon, so that's not something anyone here worries about but we sure get our share of wind & rain storms...I get a lot of exercise picking up branches in the yard and street afterwards. With downed trees comes electrical outages which in turn mean no water, so we have to be prepared when they predict a storm.
brat#2
Kay, believe me I understand. I'm on well too, so when there's no electric there's no water. Even during our regular summer thunderstorms we tend to lose power, so I usually have extra water on hand at all times. Good luck. Joyce
kayc
Made it through first night, they say it's a typhoon from the Northwest. Sat. noon to midnight is supposed to be the worst. I've never seen rain like this, it woke me up. My entire 35' patio is drenched. When it gets light I'll check out my carport. It will probably flood it before the weekend is over so I may have to move the vehicles up onto the road. Didn't sleep much.
kevin
KayC Just following same storm......Looks like it will slam northern Oregon with big punch. The winds up to 100mph on the coast.....4-5 inches of rain possible.........Looks like two seperate storms
iPraiseHim
KayC, I watched the weather channel this morning and see the storms you are facing. First the east coast and now the west coast. I am praying continually for your safety, protection, and peace through the storm. You are not alone as God is always with you. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing. We love you and are sending our virtual <<< HUGS >>> - Shalom, George.

Brad
If you get a chance send some of it our way; we don't need the whole thing, it's been a pretty dry Summer/Autumn down here.
brat#2
Kay, glad you made it through the first round safe. You will be in my thoughts for the second round. Also, let's keep Gwen in our thoughts as she is also getting these storms. Both of you stay safe. Joyce

Margm
Do you have a supply of wood? I remember your having some hotter days than we had down here, but I always think of Oregon as being cold. Stay warm and dry and let us hear from you when you are able to. .
Gwenivere
As Joyce said, we are getting pummeled in Washington from this storm also. I can take rain, but wind (as our friends in the path of the hurricane know) are very scary and dangerous. I have all our power failures supplies out, but I don't know how to use the generator which was Steves job. Another hard thing is the dogs, especially one of them is so freaked out I have to sedate her and keep her in bathroom so I can sleep. I know we will all calm down once we get last this and hopefully not too many trees or limbs will come down.

Margm
Gwen, Kay, and anyone else that lives in that part of the country I didn't know you all had hurricane strength winds on the west coast. Wow, you all stay inside, this is as bad as those that hit North and South Carolina. Stay safe.
